Everything you need to know about using Altagonist.
After activation, go to Altagonist > Settings in your WordPress admin.
On the Settings page, check the languages you want to use for alt tag generation. Only checked languages will appear in the language selector on the main page.
Altagonist supports 20 languages: English, Dutch, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, Turkish, Polish, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, and Czech.
Uses image metadata only: filename, title, caption, description, and dimensions.
Best for: Standalone images, product photos, or images where the filename is descriptive. Fastest processing time.
Everything in Lite, plus excerpts from your homepage and the page/post where the image is used (up to 500 characters each).
Best for: Most use cases. Provides a good balance between context and cost. The AI understands what your page is about and generates more relevant descriptions.
Everything in Medium, but sends the full content of your homepage and the page/post — no character limits.
Best for: Content-heavy pages where context matters most. Produces the most relevant and specific alt tags. Slowest processing time.
Each image you process costs credits based on the quality tier:
| Quality | Credits per image |
|---|---|
| Lite | 1 credit |
| Medium | 2 credits |
| High | 3 credits |
Your remaining credits are displayed in the top-right corner of the Altagonist admin page.
| Plan | Credits/month | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 15 | Free |
| Personal | 50 | €5/mo |
| Pro | 200 | €12/mo |
| Agency | 1,000 | €29/mo |
Paid plans are billed annually. All plans include access to all quality tiers and all 20 languages.
Free plan credits reset on the 1st of each month. Paid plan credits reset on your billing anniversary date. Unused credits do not roll over.
